Egypt confirms all services provided to stranded Palestinians at Rafah crossing |

An Egyptian cabinet spokesman said Monday his country has offered all services to the Palestinians stranded on the Egyptian side of Rafah crossing, the official MENA news agency reported.
Magdi Radi made the remarks at a cabinet session during which Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef reviewed the situation of the stranded Palestinians.
During the session, Governor of North Sinai Ahmed Abdel-Hamid submitted a report in which he said the Palestinians are in a good condition and that all medical services are provided to them.
Hospitals in Al-Arish and Rafah were opened for receiving emergency cases, added the report.
Earlier on Sunday, a Palestinian ministerial delegation arrived in the northern Egyptian port city of Al-Arish near the border with Gaza to inspect the conditions of the Palestinians stranded at Rafah crossing.
More than 6,000 Palestinians have been reportedly stranded on the Egyptian side of the crossing for nearly a month since the Rafah border terminal was closed on June 9, waiting for the reopening of the terminal to return to Gaza Strip.
All crossing points in Gaza, including Rafah border crossing, have been closed since the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) seized control of Gaza in mid June.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said that 28 stranded Palestinians had died since the border was sealed off.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry is contacting with Israel and the European Union (EU) as well as the Palestinians to contain the situation and open the crossing as quickly as possible, Radi said.
However, Hamas said Monday it rejects any Israeli control of the crossing and EU observers' role in controlling the Palestinian passengers' movement at Rafah borders crossing between Gaza and Egypt.
