The Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, damaged the image of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said in a statement on Tuesday.

Aziz also said that Lal Masjid administration challenged the writ of the government.

As for why the last-ditch efforts to persuade Maulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi to surrender failed, Aziz elaborated that the interference of foreign militants in the mosque was the leading factor.
