Colombia extradites six more people on criminal charges |

The Colombian government on Tuesday formalized the extradition of six people on criminal charges to bring the number to more than 500 since late 2002.
The extraditions involved four Colombians being sought by the United States, another one wanted by Peru and an Italian who fled Milan after convicted in drug related cases.
Among the deportees, Carlos Alberto Jaramillo Gonzalez, German Villegas Mejia, Alvaro Antonio Padilla Melendez and Edison Ramirez Gamboa are being sought by courts in New York and Florida.
The first three await trial on drug charges and Ramirez for human trafficking. They have all appealed their extradition, but the appeals have been rejected.
Fernando Arango Franco was extradited to Peru on charges of drug trafficking and crimes against public health. He is to appear at the Fourth Criminal Court in the Peruvian city Callao.
Italian Piero Guida is wanted by the Milan Appeals Court.
The Colombian government has authorized 619 extraditions and carried out 522 of them since incumbent President Alvaro Uribe took office on Aug. 7, 2002.
In the first half of this year, the government authorized 98 extraditions, involving 94 Colombians being sought by the United States in connection with drug dealing or money laundering.
