Britain gives 208m dollars to support Tanzanian budget

The British government has contributed 262 billion Tanzanian shillings (208 million U.S. dollars) to Tanzania toward its 2007/2008 budget.

A statement, issued by the British Department for International Development in Tanzania and available on Wednesday, said that the fund extended to the General Budget Support would go to the implementation of Tanzania's National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty.

The amount is part of a three-year budget support commitment pledged by the British government.

Britain pledged a budget support for Tanzania amounting to 639. 8 million dollars in all for the three fiscal years from 2006/2007 to 2008/2009.
