The Third Meeting of the African Prosecutors Association (APA) opened here on Thursday morning, with Angolan Minister of Family and Women Promotion Candida Celeste making a speech on "the importance of strengthening, developing and protecting women for the future of Africa."
Presided over by Angolan National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joao Lourenco, the meeting will discuss such topics as organized crimes and exploitation of children and women, national implementation of conventions, patterns leading to an acting prosecuting counsel and sexual violence. Matters linked to harmonization of policies and legislation for children and women protection, social prevention of crimes and the role of partnerships in the achievement of justice will also be discussed at the three-day meeting. Prosecutors from 18 African countries attended the meeting under the theme "Action of African Prosecutors in Fight against Human Trafficking, Family Violence and Child Abuse." The African Prosecutors Association was founded in August 2004 in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, under the theme "Africa United Against Crime."
