About 30 journalists from public and private media houses in Niger, have begun Friday a training workshop at the "Maison de la presse" here on the international human rights charter.
The workshop is organized by Journalists Network For Human Rights (RJDH), with the support of Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA).
For RJDH's president Abdourahmane Ousmane, by offering this kind of training, the network is aiming at equipping the journalists with better skills for promoting and defending human rights through the media.
This training is also aimed at initiating Nigerien journalists to principle international and African regional legal instruments relating to human rights.
It will train the journalists on investigative and editorial techniques for articles touching on human rights, editorial alert and reporting techniques in human rights violation and the legal procedure of submitting the case to the relevant legal authorities.
The training is conducted by Oumarou Narey, a teaching researcher from Abdou Moumouni University in the Nigerien capital of Niamey.
