Heavy rainfalls in Colombia caused two rivers to overflow in Cordoba province in northwest Colombia, forcing some 100,000 people to leave home, local officials said on Friday.
The downpours will continue on Friday with the risk of more floods, the Hydrology, Meteorology, Environment Studies Institute (Ideam) stated. Some 15,000 families living near Cordoba's Sinu and San Jorge rivers were evacuated since 16 of the 28 municipalities were flooded.
The current rainy season began in March and has already left 58 dead, over 600,000 displaced and 107 injured, Colombia's Red Cross said.
Provinces hardest hit by the heavy rainfalls are Bolivar, Choco, Cordoba, Sucre and Antioquia, with a total of 268,868 people affected, the Red Cross added.
