A car bomb detonated in a central Baghdad district on Monday, killing a civilian and wounding three others, a well-informed police source said. "A booby-trapped car went off in the residential area of the Arrassat in Karradah district, killing a civilian and wounding three others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The blast also damaged two nearby shops, the source added. Before the car bombing, the capital woke up with a start as roadside bombing and mortar barrage killed seven Iraqis, including five soldiers, and wounding seven others. Violence continued infesting Baghdad's streets despite five months of U.S.-Iraqi security plan aiming at reining in rampant violence in the capital.
