British Ambassador to Chile Howard Drake said on Monday the British embassy would boost security after Sunday's attack on it.
"Any embassy should boost security in such times, because two weeks ago there were attacks in London and every day we need to strengthen our security systems," Drake told the on-line edition of Chilean daily El Mercurio. "The most important thing, however, is to keep on working," he said. The security monitors around the embassy may have recorded the suspect's image and the embassy is waiting for the result of the investigation, he said. An explosion rocked the British embassy in Santiago's Las Condes neighborhood on Sunday night, smashing windows and damaging an entrance door. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Chilean police said an explosive device had been placed by a window of the office building that houses the British embassy.
