Tanzania will early next month host a new round of Darfur meeting which aims at bringing to an end the civil conflict that has claimed hundreds of thousands of victims since 2003.

The African Union along with the United Nations will organize the meeting to be held between August 3 and 5 to try fix a date and venue for the start of peace negotiations between the Sudanese authorities and rebel groups.

The meeting will be held in Arusha of northern Tanzania, according to local press reports on Tuesday.

Former Tanzanian prime minister Salim Ahmed Salim is now working as the African Union special envoy on Darfur.
