A U.S. soldier died from non-battle related cause in southern Iraq, the U.S. military said on Tuesday. The soldier died on Sunday in Iraq's southern province of Diwaniyah, some 180 km south of Baghdad, the military said in a brief statement. The incident is under investigation, it said. The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement added. The latest death bring the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to about 3,616 since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
