Moscow is analyzing London''s decision to expel four Russian diplomats from Britain and will decide on an appropriate response, a Russian news agency reported on Tuesday.

"Thirty minutes prior to the (British) foreign secretary''s speech in the House of Commons, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in London was summoned to the Foreign Office, where, with reference to the country''s government''s decision, he was officially given a note on our diplomats'' expulsion," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying.

"We shall carefully analyze the official position of London and the contents of the above-mentioned note for purposes of formulating and taking adequate measures in return," Kamynin said.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said on Monday that Britain would expel four diplomats from the Russian embassy in London due to Russia''s refusal to extradite a main suspect in the poisoning case of former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko.

Andrei Lugovoi, also a former KGB officer, was accused of murdering the former Russian agent Litvinenko.

Litvinenko died of radioactive poisoning, from Polonium 210, in London on Nov. 23. Experts investigating his death found radiation traces at a dozen locations and on two British Airways airplanes that flew the Moscow-London route.
