At least 13 people were killed and more than 30 others were wounded Tuesday night in a suicide bomb blast in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad, Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Khalid Pervez told a private TV.

The blast took place at the main gate of a market, some 100 meters from the stage prepared for the address of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry to the Islamabad Bar, according to local TV reports.

But the reports said that up to 60 people were injured and brought to local hospitals.

Blood was spread at the place of explosion. A police van was seen rushing to the explosion place.

The chief justice was due here to address the Islamabad Bar and his convoy was staying near the Balochistan House in the same city. His convoy has been stopped by the police after the incident.

The police has cordoned the blast area.

An anti-terror team has been called to the site for investigation.
