Government troops of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Tuesday morning clashed with Rwandan rebel group, the "Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda" (FDLR), leaving four dead and five injured.
According to the report, a patrol team of DRC government troops was ambushed by the rebel force in the province of Nord-Kivu Tuesday morning. Two soldiers were killed and one was injured in the clash. A rebel also died.
There were also civilian casualties, with one girl shot dead and four others injured.
Since this year, about 13,000 people have fled from their homes in Nord-Kivu province to escape the war.
Many FDLR members are suspected of taking part in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda in which, according to the United Nations, Hutu extremists killed some 800,000 ethnic minority Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
