Two German nationals are missing and have apparently been kidnapped in Afghanistan, German media reported on Wednesday. German foreign ministry spokesman Martin Jaeger only confirmed that two German nationals are missing in Afghanistan. German diplomats in Kabul have been trying to seek a speedy clarification of the situation. BBC quoted an Afghan official as saying that altogether seven people had been kidnapped in the central Afghan province of Wardak, including two German nationals. A UN spokesman in New York confirmed the kidnapping of seven people in Wardak but said that the victims are six Afghans and a member of an international observer mission, who is believed to a German national.
The spokesman said four Afghan police officials among the kidnapped group have already been released.
