South Korea has offered to hold a new round of ministerial talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) early next month, said the South Korean Unification Ministry on Thursday.
"On July 4, we proposed to hold inter-Korean ministerial talks in early August, but the North (DPRK) has yet to respond," said Vice Unification Minister Shin Un-sang. The two sides held the 21st round of the ministerial talks in Seoul but failed to reach agreement on when to have the next round. "It is time that promotion of peace, a peace regime or the peace issue should be discussed," Shin said. South Korea and DPRK have agreed to hold a new round of family reunions via video link in mid-August, the ministry said.
