A U.S. soldier died of wounds sustained from a roadside bomb explosion near his vehicle in Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Friday.
The attack took place on Thursday when the blast struck the victim's patrol in eastern the capital, a military statement said.
On Thursday, the military said that five of its troops were killed in Iraq, including four in a single bomb attack in Baghdad. The names of the soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added. The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to more than 3,625 since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
