The two leaders emphasized that the visit will come after a resolution that is currently being studied by the UN Security Council, which will lead to a rapid deployment of a joint AU-UN peacekeeping mission there.
"We are going to ask our two foreign ministers to take the same message. The message is simple, the current situation is untenable, people are dying and suffering, that must come to and end," Sarkozy said.
Sarkozy also expressed the "solidarity" of France with Britain in the ongoing diplomatic crisis with Russia over the Litvinenko affair.
