The death toll from the roadside bomb explosion near a bus in eastern Baghdad on Saturday rose to five, a well-informed police source said. "Our latest report said that up to five people were killed and eight others injured in the attack," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Earlier, the source put the toll at one killed and three wounded by the blast. The bomb exploded around midday near a bus carrying passengers in the Baladiyat neighborhood in eastern Baghdad, the source said. In separate attack, a mortar round landed on the al-Rashad neighborhood in southeastern Baghdad, killing a civilian and injuring four others, he said. Daily bombings continued infesting the Baghdad's streets despite a five-month U.S. and Iraqi security plan aiming at reining in rampant violence.
