Meanwhile, Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (Terai Democratic Liberation Front) Jwala Singh faction, an armed group claiming a separate state in Terai, appealed to the people to boycott Poudel''s consultative meeting with leaders in Janakpur. Despite that, the program went ahead without any hindrance. On the same day in Itahari, Sunsari district, some 230 km southeast of Kathmandu, Information Minister Mahara reminded locals of being alert of activities which would disrupt the CA poll and create instability in the country. Mahara said that although it is not easy to conduct the Constituent Assembly election, it is possible through collaboration amongst eight political parties, civil society and the media, according to local newspaper The Rising Nepal on Sunday. Talking to journalists on Saturday in Biratnagar, some 240 km southeast of Kathmandu Minister Sitaula said a solution will be found within 15 days by initiating dialogue with all the agitating groups in Terai. He held out hope for a positive and fruitful result. Stressing that only the scheduled CA election will solve the problems, Minister Sitaula said that everyone must now concentrate on the poll. Speaking at a press meet in Birgunj, some 90 km south of Kathmandu, Minister Pradip Nepal urged Nepali political parties to accelerate steps on solving Terai problems, so as to make way for CA poll. Since the beginning of this year, nearly a dozen of armed groups in Terai have called rounds of general strikes, and been involved in abduction and killing of locals and government officials. As a result, security is severely deteriorating in the region.
