An unidentified group has shot dead a Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) activist in southern Nepal, local media reported Sunday. Binod Kumar Mallik was kidnapped and later killed on Saturday night three km away from his village in Dhanusa District, some 125 km south of Kathmandu, local police said. The CPN-M has claimed that Mallik was killed by the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha's Goit faction (JTMM-G), but the later denied it. Meanwhile, the police foiled an attempt to attack CPN-M's parliament member Pabhu Shah by members of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-Jwala Singh) in Rautahat district, some 110 km south of Nepal, on Saturday. Police arrested three JTMM-J members along with weapons. One of the JTMM member was injured when CPN-M cadres retaliated. Meanwhile, Rautahat military commander of JTMM-J Abhaya Singh has claimed that his cadres had taken physical action against MP Shah. He also claimed that one of his cadres was injured during clash with CPN-M.
