Turkey's Higher Board of Election ( YSK) said on Sunday that no accident occurred during the Turkish general elections. "No accident has occurred throughout Turkey that might have a negative impact on the results of general election," said Chairman of the YSK Muammer Aydin. Voting process for electing 550 parliament members has ended across Turkey as of 5:00 p.m. (1400 GMT).
The YSK also said it would lift the ban on broadcasting election results at 7:00 p.m. (1600 GMT), two hours ahead of the scheduled time. It added that trivial arguments, that do not have any links with the election process, occurred between some citizens.
In addition, the semi-official Anatolia News Agency reported that police detained 19 people in southern city of Osmaniye and 47 people in northern city of Tokat, who were charged of various crimes, while they were casting their votes. The voting began at 7:00 a.m. (0400 GMT) in 32 eastern and southeastern cities and 8:00 a.m. (0500 GMT) in other 49 cities. Source: Xinhua
