Zimbabweans will soon be exempted from the stringent South African visa requirements as both officials from the Zimbabwean and South African Home Affairs only have to finalize a few outstanding issues agreed upon at their last meeting, The Sunday Mail reported.

Scrapping of the South African visas would follow the recent announcement by the Mozambican government that they would scrap visas for Zimbabweans by the end of the year.

Acting Deputy Director-General of the National Immigration Branch (NIB) in the Ministry of Home Affairs Yusuf Simons said discussions took place between delegations of Zimbabwe and South Africa with both parties only left to finalize issues that were agreed upon.

"There is no hindrance to the negotiations that took place as everything went well as anticipated," said Simons.
