Nine Poles have been rescued from the Baltic Sea off Sweden after their yacht sank, local media reported on Monday. The boat got into difficulties eight nautical miles north-west of Haradsskar, an island off Valdemarksvik, 215 kilometers south of Stockholm, Swedish news agency TT reported. The alarm was raised at 10:36 a.m. About half an hour later a rescue helicopter from Visby caught sight of the group's life-raft. All nine were winched into the helicopter unharmed. They landed in Valdemarsvik at 11:30 a.m.
It is so far unclear why the boat sank. Police were questioning the crew on Monday afternoon, according to TT.
