The members of a 45-member Grand Jirga on Tuesday will hold talks with local militants in Pakistan's northwestern North Waziristan, a private TV channel Geo reported.

After negotiating with Utmanzai tribe of North Waziristan on Monday, the Fata Grand Tribal Jirga met with governor of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) Ali Mohammed Jan Orakzai and briefed him about the developments made during the negotiation, Geo said.

"The Jirga members held successful negotiations with Ali Jan Orakzai," Geo quoted Jirga members Malik Nasrullah Khan and MNA Maulana Naik Zaman as saying.

While briefing the Governor, the Jirga members said that although some progress had been made during the two days negotiations with the tribesmen of North Waziristan Agency, more time and effort would be required for conclusive and purposeful dialogue, according to Geo.

After briefing the Governor on progress of their negotiations with Utmanzai tribesmen of North Waziristan, the Jirga members again proceeded for Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan tribal region, to convey the new proposals from the government side.

The Jirga will go to Miranshah for further negotiations with local militants, Geo said.
