Vietnam will foster diplomatic work to serve the country's economic development, said Pham Gia Khiem, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The diplomatic sector is effectively making use of smooth political relations with other countries to beef up cooperation in the fields of investment, economy, trade, science and technology, education, infrastructure and energy, he said in his article on local newspaper People on Tuesday.

The sector is also offering advices to the government in working out economic development plans, and helping local firms maintain good relations with foreign economic groups, strengthen trade and investment promotion abroad and seek more overseas markets, and providing them more information about market, science, investment and legal environment.

Besides, it is enhancing multilateral diplomatic activities, actively joining regional and international organizations to make use of resources for development.

Vietnam prioritizes peace consolidation and cooperation promotion for development in the new stage, he noted.
