Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Pervez Musharraf over the fight against terrorism, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported. During the phone talks, Sezer told Musharraf that Turkey appreciated Pakistan's determination in the fight against terrorism, according to Anatolia. "Turkey, as a country which has suffered from terrorism for a long time, will always support Pakistan in this fight," Sezer was quoted as saying. In response, Musharraf thanked Turkey for its support, saying that bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism will continue.
In another development, Musharraf and Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Tuesday sent congratulatory messages to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose Justice and Development Party won a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections held on July 22.
