Tony Blair, new envoy of the international Middle East Quartet, arrived on Wednesday, starting his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Emirates News Agency reported. During his visit, Blair will hold talks with a number of UAE officials on his mission of promoting peace process in the Middle East, the report said. Blair was received at the airport by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and British Ambassador to the UAE Anthony Oakden.
As new envoy of the international Quartet comprising the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and Russia, Blair is on his first regional tour, which has taken him to Jordan, Israel and the West Bank.
