U.S. experts will make a topographical study of a locality at Misov, west Bohemia area of the Czech republic, where the United States wanted to build a radar base, in mid-August, Czech government spokesman for the radar Tomas Klvana confirmed on Wednesday.

However, Klvana refused to give the exact date of the visit, according to Czech news agency CTK.

In early July, the Defense Ministry chose the locality, situated about two kilometers away from Misov and some 90 kilometers southwest of Prague, Klavna said.

The experts will also count the costs of building the base, he added.

The Brdy municipalities and the local inhabitants opposed the plan. According to a recent public opinion poll, more than two thirds of Czech citizens disagree with the installation of the base. The government parties are not united on the issue either.

The United States unveiled its plan in January to place a radar system in the Czech Republic and 10 interceptor missiles in Poland, as components of the missile defense shield.
