Bahraini Crown Prince Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad al-Khalifa reiterated Wednesday Bahrain's commitment to the Arab peace proposal, according to reports from the Bahrain capital of Manama.
Salman made the remarks while meeting with Tony Blair, the new envoy of the international Middle East Quartet, saying that Bahrain is willing to support Blair's efforts on the realization of the peace in the region, the BNA state news agency reported.
Bahrain will stick to the Arab peace initiative as the basic principles to solve Arab-Israeli conflicts, Salman said, adding that the roadmap drawn by the Middle East Quartet is still in effect.
Salman said the base of a just settlement of Israeli-Palestinian conflicts is to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Blair is on his first regional tour as new envoy of the international Quartet which has taken him the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Israel and the West Bank.
During the meeting, Blair presented the outcome of his visit earlier and exchanged views with Salman on international and regional issues of common concern.
Blair was this month appointed envoy for the Quartet of Middle East peace brokers -- the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and Russia.
