A new European law entered into force Thursday prohibiting airline companies, travel agents or tourist operators from barring physically-challenged person from accessing or boarding air transport facilities across Europe. "I am happy these rules have finally been implemented marking a fundamental step in ensuring equal treatment of physically- challenged persons," said the French transport minister Jean-Louis Borloo. The new European law stipulates that in the next one year, physically-challenged persons will receive free assistance in airports as well a s on board aircrafts. "These important measures in favor of the physically-challenged must be extended to all other modes of transports," Borloo said, noting his ministry was treating this matter as "a priority."
