The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has planned to launch its early warning center in October in Gaborone of Botswana.

The plan was revealed at the end of a SADC foreign ministerial meeting in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.

Monday's edition of Daily News newspaper quoted Tanzanian Foreign Minister Bernard Membe as saying that the center would be furnished with modern equipment so as to detect looming disasters to enable member countries to be better prepared.

The foreign minister also told the local media that the next SADC Summit of Heads of State would be held next month in Lusaka of Zambia.
