France issued Monday a strong travel advisory warning its nationals against visiting Afghanistan due to the worsening security situation there.
"Security situation in Afghanistan has continued to deteriorate in the past few days, including in the capital city of Kaboul and in the surrounding regions," affirmed the French foreign ministry spokesman Pascale Andreani during a press briefing.
"Risks of suicide attacks and kidnappings have increased. Afghan interior ministry has indicated there is no safe communication network, while advising against any movement and travel, especially by NGO humanitarian workers, out of Kaboul without an armed escort," says the spokesman.
"The foreign ministry highly advises French nationals against traveling to Afghanistan, and recommends to those already there to contact the French embassy for more detailed information on the prevailing situation," she said.
