A Pakistani Presidential spokesman on Monday strongly rejected reports of any meeting or any such request made to former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and his brother Mian Shahbaz Sharif, during President Pervez Musharraf's visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia.

Spokesman Rashid Qureshi strongly rejected that Nawaz Sharif, or his brother Shahbaz Sharif who is the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, had been approached for any meeting, understanding or deal.

Nawaz Sharif appeared on Pakistani TV channels on Monday and claimed that Musharraf tried to contact him during a visit to UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Musharraf left Pakistan on July 27 for a two-day visit to UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Pakistani TV channels reports said that Musharraf met the exiled former premier Benazir Bhutto who is the leader of the Pakistan People's Party for talks on a possible power-sharing pact.

However, Rashid Qureshi said that the reports were completely baseless.

Nawaz Sharif was twice elected as Prime Minister of Pakistan, serving two non-consecutive terms. His first term was from November 1, 1990 to July 18, 1993, and his second term was from February 17, 1997 to October 12, 1999. Currently Nawaz Sharif and his brother live in exile in London.
