Lebanese army continued bombarding Fatah al-Islam militants' hideouts at a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon on Monday, local Future TV reported.
The troops used tank and artillery to shell the remaining strongholds of Fatah al-Islam militants in the Nahr al-Bared camp, said the report, adding that sporadic fighting erupted inside the camp, some 12 km north the port city of Tripoli.
Using loudspeakers, the army renewed its calls Monday for the militants to surrender or allow their families to leave the camp, the state-run National News Agency reported.
A soldier was killed in the clashes at Nahr al-Bared late Sunday, according to Future TV. The latest death raised the number of Lebanese soldiers killed to 122 since the fighting with Fatah al-Islam broke out on May 20.
The Lebanese army have been battling with the militants of Fatah al-Islam in the Nahr al-Bared camp since May 20. This bloodiest internal violence since the Lebanese 1975-1990 civil war has killed more than 200 people.
The Lebanese government lists Fatah al-Islam as a terrorist network aimed at destabilizing Lebanon.
