The National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam, the country's top legislature, on Tuesday agreed to increase the number of deputy prime ministers of the 12th government to five from three in the 11th tenure.
At the NA's ongoing first session, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung submitted to the legislature the proposed list of five deputy prime ministers, including three deputy prime ministers of the 11th government, Nguyen Sinh Hung, Pham Gia Khiem and Truong Vinh Trong, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan and Industry Minister Hoang Trung Hai. The five people are at the age of 48-65.
The five deputy prime ministers will include a permanent one, one cum foreign minister, one in charge of economy, one of culture and society, and one cum permanent member of the Central Anti- Corruption Committee.
Also on Tuesday, the legislature agreed to decrease the number of ministries and agencies equivalent to ministries to 22 from current 26, and heard the list of ministers proposed by the prime minister.
The NA is scheduled to approve the prime minister's proposal on appointing deputy prime ministers, ministers, and other government members on August 2.
