India has reiterated its cooperation and support to Nepal in holding constituent assembly ( CA) elections scheduled for Nov. 22 and resolving the ongoing crisis in southern Terai through dialogues.

The local media houses' website THT online reported Tuesday that Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shanker Mukherjee told Speaker of the Nepali Parliament Subash Nemwang that India wishes stability and lasting peace in Nepal through CA polls.

During his meeting with Nemwang Tuesday morning, Ambassador Mukherjee reiterated India's official stance on Nepal, saying "We are of the belief that the Nepali people are capable of deciding their fate through CA polls."

Nemwang quoted Mukherjee as saying that India, as a good friend of Nepal, wants the Terai crises to be resolved through dialogues with different agitating factions in the southern Terai plains of Nepal.

During the meeting, Nemwang sought international support to the government for holding CA polls.
