More Filipinos remain dissatisfied with the performance of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo despite government claims of significant improvement in the country's economy, the latest IBON survey showed on Wednesday.
According to the July 2-13 IBON quarterly survey, 72 percent of 1,488 respondents were unsatisfied and 10 percent satisfied with President Arroyo's performance in the past quarter.
The satisfaction rating was lower than that recorded during the January 2007 survey round, where 61 percent found her performance unsatisfactory and 15 percent satisfactory.
The figures were much lower than results of the latest Social Weather Stations survey, which showed 39 percent satisfied and 42 percent dissatisfied with Arroyo's performance as of late June. The figures are nearly identical to the 39 percent satisfied and 43 percent dissatisfied in the SWS survey of late February.
According to the IBON survey, almost 55 percent of respondents gave Arroyo a failing grade in her performance as president while 40.3 percent gave her a passing grade.
The President received failing grades in the following areas of governance: the economy, jobs and livelihood, peace and order, peace talks, national unity, combating corruption and social welfare. The President received a passing grade only in the area of foreign relations.
Sixty percent of respondents said Arroyo should be removed as the country's president.
