Four U.S. soldiers were killed on Tuesday, three of them in a single attack, and six others were injured in the Iraqi capital, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.
An American soldier was gunned down by small arms fire during combat operation in eastern Baghdad, a military statement said.
An earlier military statement said three soldiers were killed and six others were wounded on Tuesday in a sophisticated armor- piercing roadside bomb attack in eastern Baghdad.
An explosively-formed penetrator, or EFP, detonated near the soldiers' patrol during combat operations, the military said.
EFP is a shaped charge explosive designed to penetrate armor effectively. They were first developed during World War II.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq to more than 3,655 since the Iraq war broke out in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
