Vietnam hopes trade and investment cooperation ties with China, especially ties between central Binh Thuan province and Chinese localities, will be strengthened, a local party official and legislator said Wednesday in Hanoi.
Huynh Van Ti, secretary of the Binh Thuan Party Committee and lawmaker, made the remarks when visiting the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and meeting with Chinese ambassador Hu Qianwen. Ti currently leads the delegation of legislators from Binh Thuan, who are attending the ongoing first session of the 12th National Assembly of Vietnam, the country's top legislature, in Hanoi capital.
Under the guidance of the governments of the two countries, Chinese firm China Southern Power Grid is developing in Binh Thuan a big electricity plant, whose first turbine is scheduled to start operation in 2010, Ti said.
He said he hoped Binh Thuan, a province full of resources, will boost export of local items, including dragon fruits, to China, and receive more Chinese investors.
The Chinese ambassador said under the principles of long-term stability, future-orientation, good neighborly friendship and overall cooperation, and the spirits of "good neighbor, good friend, good comrade and good partner" defined by leaders of China and Vietnam, the bilateral ties have developed and entered a new period, and the two sides' focus on trade and economic development has brought about practical effects.
Hu said the Chinese embassy will continue to help foster the relations between China and Vietnam, including ties between their localities, and facilitate cooperation projects implemented by the two sides.
