A U.S. soldier was killed and two others were wounded in a roadside bomb attack in southern Iraq, the U.S. military said on Thursday.
The attack took place on Wednesday during a combat logistics patrol near the city of Basra, some 550 km south of Baghdad, a military statement said.
"The wounded soldiers were treated by Coalition Forces medical personnel and transported to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation and treatment," the statement said.
Earlier in the day, the military announced the killing of two more soldiers and the wounding of 10 others by indirect fire on Tuesday.
The latest death brings the number of U.S. soldiers that have been killed in Iraq to about 3,660 since the Iraq war broke out in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
