Leaders of Darfur armed movements on Saturday kept arriving even after the midway mark of the three-day African Union-United Nations international meeting on Darfur.

The new arrivals of several field commanders from northern Darfur included Jarulnabi, Suleiman Marjan and Salah Adam Issac.

Suleiman Marjan told reporters upon arrival that his group had come with the hope of forging through talks a unified demand with other armed movements so as to be better represented in the negotiations in the future.

Nourredine Mezni, spokesman for the African Union Mission in the Sudan, described the new arrivals on Saturday as an "added value to the AU-UN Arusha meeting".

Another group of field commanders from Darfur were also scheduled to arrive late in the day for the Arusha meeting.

African Union Special Envoy on Darfur Salim Ahmed Salim and United Nations Special Envoy on Darfur Jan Eliasson spent Saturday on listening to representatives of different armed movements from western Sudan.
