Chief of the Palestinian Highest Islamic Council of Sharia (the Islamic Law), Tayseer Tamimi, Sunday called on the Afghani movement of Taliban to free the 21 Korean hostages they had abducted soon.
"In the name of Islam and its principles of forgiveness, we appeal to you (Taliban) to stop killing the Korean hostages because this contradicts with the rule of Islam," Tamimi said in a statement sent to reporters.
He called on Taliban to resolve the crisis "through negotiations," adding that the Korean hostages and their country " have no relation to what the movement is demanding for their release."
A total of 23 South Koreans were kidnapped by Taliban militants in the central Ghazni province on July 19, and Taliban used it to press the Afghani government to free 22 Taliban members imprisoned in the Afghani jails.
The Afghan authorities refused to release Taliban prisoners in exchange for the hostages. As a result, two male hostages had been executed by Taliban.
"Such behavior harms Islam and its rules. It gives the enemies of Islam the excuse to continue attacking and humiliating the Moslems all over the world," said Tamimi.
He also urged in his statement all Moslem clerics and the influential people on Taliban movement to interfere in order to free the Korean hostages.
