Saraya al-Quds, Islamic Jihad (Holy War) movement's armed wing, claimed responsibility on Monday for launching two homemade rockets from northern Gaza Strip into southern Israel.
The group said in a press statement that its militants fired two (Quds) rockets from Gaza into southern Israeli town of Sderout. Israeli Radio confirmed the rockets' attack, but said no injuries or damages were reported.
"This attack is part of the natural Palestinian response to the daily crimes carried out by the Zionists against our people. The attacks are carried out to prove that resistance against the occupation would never end," Saraya al-Quds said.
Meanwhile, an Israeli army spokesman announced in the day that Israeli troops detained eight Palestinian activists during regular military operations all over the West Bank, which is controlled by Fatah.
Israeli Radio quoted the spokesman as saying that four of the detainees were arrested west of Ramallah, three others were detained near Nablus and the eighth one was detained near Hebron.
In another development, the Palestinian police forces of President Mahmoud Abbas arrested on Monday 13 Hamas-associate members in Hebron.
Brig. Sameeh al-Seifi told reporters that the Hamas-associate members were detained in suspect of trying to build a Hamas- executive security force similar to the one Hamas established in the Gaza Strip in May last year.
Hamas' security forces defeated rival Fatah militants in mid June and seized control of the Gaza Strip, which means the geographically-divided Palestinian territories have been politically split into two parts.
