China said on Monday it will earnestly implement its commitments in the joint documents of the six-party talks to promote the process of the talks.
"As host of the six-party talks, China will earnestly implement its commitments in the September 19 joint statement and February 13 joint document," said the Foreign Ministry spokesperson's office in a statement.
The statement was a response to a journalist's request to confirm a recent report that China has offered to begin shipping 50,000 tons of heavy fuel oil to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in mid-August.
The Republic of Korea (ROK) has delivered 50,000 tons.
The statement said China will continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the other five parties to safeguard the good momentum in the six-party talks and continuously push forward the process.
According to a press communique issued on July 20 at the end of the head of delegation meeting of the sixth round of the six-party talks, economic, energy and humanitarian assistance up to the equivalent of 950,000 tons of heavy fuel oil will be provided to the DPRK.
