The death toll in a landslide at Compostela Valley, the southern Philippines, rose to nine as another body was recovered on Tuesday while one victim died when undergoing hospital treatment, local media reported.

Meanwhile, an 11-year-old victim is feared to still be buried under the rubble, according to a report by GMA news network.

The report said relief and rescue operations were continuing in the area.

The heavy rain-triggered landslide occurred at around 12:15 p.m. Monday in the village of Masara, destroying at least 10 houses. At least five other people were injured, according to civil defense office in the region.
