Three American soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb explosion near Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.

Three Task Force Marne soldiers were killed on Saturday when the bomb explosion hit their convoy in south of Baghdad, a military statement said.

Earlier, the military announced the killing of five of its soldiers and injuring of 13 others in roadside bomb attacks on Monday, including four killed and 12 injured in a single attack in Iraq's restive province of Diyala, northeast of Baghdad.

The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers who have been killed in Iraq to about 3,680 since the Iraq war broke out in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
