Clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters in Afghanistan's central Ghazni province left six insurgents dead, provincial police chief Ali Shah Ahmadzai said Wednesday.

"Some 60 rebels stormed police check points in Qarabagh district Tuesday night and police encountered as a result six enemies were killed and eight others sustained injuries," Ahmadzai told Xinhua.

Qarabagh is the place where militants shifted Korean hostages after abduction late last month and from there took them to different places.

Some 20 more insurgents lost their lives in the troubled Helmand province on the same day in clash with Afghan and NATO forces.

More than 3,800 people mostly insurgents according to officials have been killed in Afghanistan over the past eight months.
