The Australian government will provide 600,000 U.S. dollars towards emergency relief and recovery efforts in communities in Nepal affected by monsoon floods, leading website THT On-line reported on Thursday.
To assist relief efforts, Australia, through its international aid agency, AusAID, will contribute 500,000 dollars to Nepal through the World Food Program for food rations and 100,000 dollars for relief operations of the Nepal Red Cross.
According to the report, flooding has affected nearly 40 million people across South Asia so far this season, which has been the worst in many years.
In Nepal, floods and landslides have affected over 330,000 people and caused more than 90 deaths, the report said.
