Afghan-Pakistani peace convention opens in Kabul |

A major Afghan-Pakistani peace Jirga or convention opened in the Afghan capital Kabul on Thursday, aimed at boosting bilateral relations and cooperation in anti-terror war.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai as well as hundreds of tribal elders from Afghanistan and Pakistan is attending the meeting, while Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf did not appear as scheduled due to "engagements" in Islamabad.
During his speech, Karzai highlighted the importance of the convention itself and the cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Kabul has tightened its security with many policemen guarding the major roads and checking vehicles.
Pakistani national flags and banners symbolizing the friendship between the two countries are witnessed here and there along the streets.
